Instructions for availability search:
The booking engine can only search for one room occupancy at a time. e.g. if you need rooms for six people, enter people "2" (not 6) to see all free rooms for your travel dates. You can then book three doubles indicating people "2" for each room. (or take two triples). If you entered "6", it would show no available room, even though we do have free space for all of you. If you enter people "6" the system looks for a room with six beds.

Renovated in 2023 the "Captains Villa" at the waterfront in the historical heart of Mangochi is a popular venue for families, meetings and business travelers. The garden restaurant and waterfront is a re-freshing, green oasis.
The architecture of this hotel is unique. Each room has its own character. All rooms are en suite. Every bed offers a comfortable, box-shaped mosquito-net. All rooms except "budget rooms" have a TV. Deluxe rooms are with air-conditioning, others are cooled by a fan.
Built in 1891 it is one of the oldest houses in Malawi. Mangochi was then known as Fort Johnston, an English settlement to hinder the spread of the Portuguese influence. At this strategic place ferries were crossing the river. The house is said to have served as the residence of the winning captain of the first and only Sea Battle on the famous "Guendolen" during the World War in then Nyassaland.
